The ultimate aim of karate lies not in victory or defeat, but in the perfection of character.”
Karate is not about winning over others. It is about winning over oneself. Ultimately, the most challenging opponents we face reside from within our hang-ups, our insecurities, our prejudices. Overcome these and you will have truly won.
I’ve been training in martial arts for more than 30 years. I first stepped onto a mat when I was 7, my martial art journey started with Judo. I was then introduced to Karate when I was 12. I have never looked back.
I’ve competed nationally and internationally and competed in some of the most prestigious tournaments, winning Gold, Silver and Bronze. One of the greatest highlights was winning Gold & Silver in the European Championships in 1999.
More recently I have had my students compete internationally, at the WUKF World Championships where they have also won medals.
I’ve had the privilege to train under some incredible karate instructors over the years. Sensei Archie Grassom 7th Dan, Sensei Eddie Daniels 9th Dan, Sensei Terry Wingrove 9th Dan. Sensei Tommy Morris 8th Dan. Recently I have visited Japan & Okinawa. Where I had the opportunity to meet and with train with Sensei Hokama 10th Dan. and I’m hoping to go back soon.
I am First Aid trained and have my DBS in place that is renewed every two years.
